As part of Rohetiiger initiative, we will be focusing on reducing food
waste. An important skill is knowing how to give new life to our daily
bio-waste – whether it be from the kitchen or the garden.
Food waste is one of the most environmentally harmful activities, as energy and
water have been used to produce almost everything that reaches our plate.
Cultivation, processing, packaging and transport consume resources, which means
that discarded food is discarded energy.
It does not require a major effort to start reducing food waste, nor does it
require huge masses of people – everyone can begin with themselves and take
their first informed steps together with their loved ones. Depending on
household habits, composting can help you halve the amount of waste you
generate.
